Your child’s teeth need cleaning just like yours do. So, to help you clean your child’s smile on a regular basis, our Pro Spoto Dental team encourages you to do the following things:

Step 1: Grab a toothbrush that is made for children. This brush is usually smaller and has special little bristles. Then place a pea-sized amount of children’s low-fluoride toothpaste on the brush. There are many flavors available, so make sure to choose a paste your child will like.

Step 2: Make sure your child is comfortable and try to make brushing a fun experience. First, hold the brush to the gumline, which is usually at 45-degree angle. Then, brush the surfaces of the teeth with small, gentle circles. Next, brush the insides of the teeth using the same motions. Finally, scrub the biting surfaces of the teeth by moving the brush back and forth.

Step 3: When you’re done brushing, have your child spit the toothpaste into the sink and rinse with water. Then, reward your child for doing such a great job.

Now that you know how to give your child a healthy smile in Tampa, Florida, it’s time to take good care of your smile! To help you do so, your dentist, Dr. Gerald Spoto, encourages you to brush your teeth twice each day, floss your smile once each day, and rinse your mouth daily. It’s also important to visit your dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and exam.
